The painted décor of the large reception room of the Châtel de Theys was designed according to a complex scheme. It is by recording each line that we can see how the painter created the structure of his composition.

The decoration consists of 52 medallions, skilfully distributed within a geometric network carefully measured and adapted to the architecture.
In the following pages you will find out more about :
- The list of medallions with a description for better reading
- The techniques used by the painter to draw his geometric background
- The use of the empanel as a standard of measurement
- A little cheating by the painter to deceive the eye
